Forgiveness

Today I watched a movie called “Forgiving Dr. Mengele”.  He was a Nazi scientist that carried out brutal experiments on twins, children, and others.  The movie is about a survivor from the experimentations, and her journey to forgive.  It begs the question, ” When is forgiveness appropriate?  Are some actions beyond forgiveness?”

What are you holding onto that you cannot forgive?  What is your barrier to offering forgiveness?

Health and Gratitude by David Salisbury

After a couple recent health scares (I’m fine), I was shocked into the realization of how fragile our bodies are, yet also how strong the Creator has made them. Much like our other-body (the soul), the physical body requires a delicacy and a strength to maintain a balance. I believe that when that balance is achieved, we can call it “total health”. Even if you aren’t in the best state of physical health, you are still breathing. You still have the sacred air flowing through your lungs that keeps your feet set upon this Earth until it is time to take flight and depart. So with that, I offer up this prayer of thanks for health and life:

“Holy Mother, Divine Protectress;
you who weave and spin the fabric and fate of my life,
I send you prayers of gratitude and thanks.
What no human ear could hear, you heard
What no human eyes could see, you saw
and like no human hands could do, you touched and transformed.
Thank you for the balance of my three bodies in one
Thank you for my breath, for my blood, for my bones.
Like holy waters returning to the mouth of the river, my heart pumps a song, blood of my ancestors singing, dancing, in praise of you.
Divine Mother, thank you for being with me in everything I encounter.

Blessed Be”

Remember to hem your blessings with gratitude, lest they become unraveled. What are you thankful for?

Cocooning: and emerging a butterfly, or at the very least a moth

In a time where life seems to run at us from multiple directions sometimes we need some “me” time to figure things out, to reconnect and to find perspective.  I am planning just such an adventure next week.  For me, this will consist of fasting, praying, doing yoga, working out, writing, and finding time to reconnect to all the things that are the most important.

We do not have the luxury of going up to the top of a mountain for 40 days, then coming down to our adoring friends–you can however create safe space for yourself even in the busiest of times. Block off 10 min, 30 min or 1 hour that is time for you to just be with your own being.  Use that time in a proactive way.  Many of us just sit and contemplate the mystery of life, but in a time where we are giving up power and control to the other things take control of this limited time to do something productive:

1) Finger paint, draw, get some play dough–when we create we are growing closer to the creator, we become–the creator

2) Fast– give us something in order to receive a deeper connection to what is important.  Give up coffee for a week, give up going out on a Saturday evening, give up tv for a month, do something, and ask that the universe bring you happiness and peace in exchange for your small sacrifice.

3) ASK!  We all have the ability to connect to our soul, we are all psychic, we are all able to ask of the universe the deepest questions that trouble us.  Yes, too often we do not want to hear the answer, but we must move into this place of connection.

Start with these simple things, and add more!  Feel free to leave a comment and tell us how you find peace, what do you do to cocoon?

In Honor of Earth Day (from the Sacred Circle Book Store)

“And then all that has divided us will merge
And then compassion will be wedded to power
And then softness will come to a world that is harsh and unkind
And then both men and women will be gentle
and then both women and men will be strong
and then no person will be subject to another’s will
and the all will be rich and free and varied
and then the greed of some will give way to the needs of many
and then all will share equally in the earth’s abundance
and then all will care for the sick and the weak and the old
and then all will nourish the young
and then all will cherish life’s creatures
and then all will live in harmony with each other and the earth
and then everywhere will be called Eden once again”
— Judy Chicago

Poem: 4/14/2010

We dance under the stars, and they laugh…  the moon plays her violin as the sun sleeps away to the sound of our tip toes… we dance under the stars, and the ocean… crashes into her lover, but the shoreline doesn’t ever give up on her…  We all trip up sometime during the dance, and we even break a few toes along the way…  I never said I was a ballerina, and I never knew what grace was I saw you moving steadily beside me, you took my hand in yours and taught me how to waltz… we two stepped to the sound of the flute breathing to the sound of God whispering songs of peace and love… we created harmony… We learned to dance by watching the sky, that moon in her twirling fashion, crashing like a wave on my shoreline.. leave your mark on my heart… you are my beautiful dancer, hold me now and dance with me… let’s dance like tomorrow will never come…  like no one is watching.. except one billion laughing stars…

Making Stone Allies By: David Salisbury

Making Stone Allies

Michael and I have been delving deeper together into the wonderful world of stone energy work. I’ve been a big fan of herbcraft for years as my personal expertise, but something has been calling me to expand, and make new friends from within the natural world. Energetically, stones work much in the same way plants do. Carrying the stone creates changes in your energy field (aura) that are associated with the properties of the stone carried. Further, you can “program” a stone with a specific goal or intent to add an extra kick to your work. When working with the stones, you’ll find that the longer you work with specific ones, the more potent the power is that they lend you. Here are some of the stones that I’ve been getting to know in my own personal practice lately:

Lapis Lazuli- In my work with The Goddess, this stone really helps me connect. In the myth of the descent of Inanna to the Underworld, Inanna had to give up her lapis jewelry (among other things) to gain passage to learn the mysteries of death. Lapis helps deepen the connection with the hidden world of the deep earth mysteries and the feminine divine.

Labradorite- A ‘higher consciousness” stone that expands our understanding of “the bigger picture”. I use this stone for ascension magick and work with contacting higher beings on both the etheric planes and the angelic realms.

Aquamarine- A lovely seafoam color stone that embodies all the aspects of the water element: love, compassion, understanding, healing, and intuition. Sacred to Venus, who was born from the seafoam washed ashore. The physical embodiment of beauty and grace. I charged this stone with blessed holy water, rolled in natural sea salt.

Onyx- Deep black, like the eyes of the fierce Crone Goddess. Onyx is extremely protective and is related to the primal survival instinct in the human body. I recently made a necklace of onyx beads, which I feel has strengthened the protective layer of my field. Onyx is a “return to sender” material and ensures that any ill will sent to you will be deflected back from whence it came. Charge your Onyx on the dark moon (tomorrow, April 13th) for maximum potency.

Clear Quartz- Probably the most popular stone for many years now. This is an all purpose stone that can be used the amplify the energies of any stone around it. I have a large clear quartz on the center of my altar to help me focus and direct energy with laser-like precision. Though I think you can charge this crystal anywhere, I find it most potent to leave it sitting in direct sunlight outside, which cleanses and charges it at the same time.

Rose Quartz- Michael and I exchanged heart-shaped rose quartz’ on Valentines Day. The Lovers Stone, brings understanding to couples and strengthens bonds. It also helps open the heart chakra to self-love and the love of divine beings.

Those are just a few, and I look forward to developing deeper relationships with my new stone allies. Soon I’ll start adding them in with my herbal charms, and we’ll really get the party going!

Poem 04/12/2010

Breath out.

Why are you spending so much time on the inhale, is life really that scary?   Each moment a shock instead of a suprise, each sun rise passing you by, you have to look up!  Stop looking at your feet, they know where they are going, give them a chance to carry you for once, we are given only this moment, a present wrapped in pretty rainbow colored paper, now is the time to open all your presents… let every day be your birthday, blow out the candles and never stop wishing… when you run out of candles start blowing kisses to the sun… in the end we are all just animated piles of dust, breath out and let this universe make a dandelion  from the that one deep breath… breath…

Poem 04/11/10

WWJD?

Who wants a jelly donut, it is the key to your salvation, I’m sure Jesus would get one of the yummy cream filled ones, or maybe one of those gross coffee cake donuts because he likes shit simple like that, He doesn’t need all the fancy frosting coating the fingers that just try to poke holes in the other donuts, then again… he’d probably order the donut holes, just so that he can put the donuts back together again…  WWJD, the key to your salvation… save me a cream filled one wont ya?

Poem 4/10/10

I am staring at the blank page hoping the words spill on their own…  Instead I’ll cut pieces of my soul, and hang them up in the window, and the the sun dance through me..  let it reflect rainbows that dance to the music of wind chimes, let my poems be God’s whisper on your ear… let me in… spill your words… let your soul become drunk with love, spill it all over the carpet… we can clean that shit up later, but for now… let it soak in.

Poem 4/09/10

I feel the drummer in my chest pounding out rhythms hoping that we’ll all dance. We’ve become so wrapped in fog that when we look out we don’t see creation, but limitatation… the drummer pounds away… we are all keeping time to the break beats of heaven, if we pause and listen, listen… I am not telling you to believe in God, but if you believe in the glory of your own beautiful life, dance to the beat of your drummer… pain always fades, the wind will always brush away the fog, stop lioving in tomorrows that keep you planted like a wall flower at the prom of your eternal being, just be… be silly, be funny, be happy, be spontaneous, be..here… now…
