Radio Show, Leaning Into Joy, and Loving the Flow

Tonight at 9pm, we’ll be re-launching our online BlogTalk Radio show, “Soul Empowerment Radio”!  We took a bit of a hiatus for travel, getting out into the world, and diving a bit into the soul journey. I’m excited to be on air again. Technology often gets a pretty bad rap, but if we can use this platform to connect, to deepen our connection to the journey, and to offer healing to the world then it’s a good thing!  My hope is to go LIVE Monday – Friday at 9pm EST. Each episode will start with a discussion and soul centered dialog followed by a guided meditation. I’ll also be opening up the lines for FREE on air mini-readings and healing sessions.  We are also working on inviting on guests, doing book reviews, and opening to community in whatever way we can!

Here is a link to join in tonight! Soul Empowerment Radio

Leaning Into Joy

joyIt’s been an incredible few months. Weather changes have bombarded our coasts, upheaval seems to be a constant trend in our media, and life for many has become heavy. It’s okay to feel whatever it is that you are feeling. You are human. It’s okay to feel the pain and the weight of the world. Taking steps toward joy can be difficult in times of global or personal upheaval. Joy is often elusive when we feel the weight of life on our shoulders, but we have to remember that taking steps toward joy gives us a chance to feel freedom, even in our chaos.

Joy isn’t meant to be used as an escape from what we are experiencing. We don’t want to use joy as a mechanism of suppression. Joy gives us access to perspective, balance, and understanding. When we over identify with our suffering, we do so at the risk of excluding other areas of life. Sometimes we have to make leaning into joy a conscious act. Here are a few steps to lean into joy when you might be experiencing upheaval:

  1. Find time to laugh. Laughter really is the best medicine.
  2. Take time to express gratitude. Now, this is different from just writing down the things you’re grateful for (which is also a powerful practice). Expressing gratitude through action allows us to participate in sharing joy. A few ways to express gratitude are: saying thank you to those that serve you in a restaurant, offering to do the daily chores, helping others in need, being in service to those around you in whatever ways feels best.
  3. Journaling. Journaling allows us to detox the mind. Creating a pressure valve for our minds allows us to have a bit more space in our life for joy.
  4. Do something silly. Color in a coloring book, play with play dough, paint, run through the sprinklers, have fun!
  5. Eat delicious food.
  6. Listen to poetry
  7. Talk a walk outside and experience nature (not just on your screen saver).

Loving the Flow

Finding balance in life allows us to move a bit deeper into the flow. It helps us to be in the experience of life, it allows us to feel this moment a bit more deeply. Life is going to come with its up and downs, it may even take you sideways, and that’s okay. It’s part of the flow. Joy is part of the flow. Love is part of the flow. Even if things feel heavy right now, know that you are moving, just as the breath is moving through your lungs. Live deeply, love deeply, be present.

Weekly Soul Update (9/29/2014)

Every Monday I’ll be doing a Soul Update for the week.  These will give me a chance to update you on all the fun happenings.   Be sure to follow the blog!

– I am currently having issues with Blogtalk.  Soul Empowerment Radio is going to be on a brief hiatus.  I am currently exploring new platforms and other methods of putting information out into the universe.  I am going to be posting more blog posts and YouTube videos.  Be sure to keep checking back!

– I have openings this week for Soma Pi and Reiki Healing sessions.  These can be done remotely or in person.  I also have availability for Soul Empowerment Sessions.  I am going to be offering a weekend special this upcoming weekend on my FaceBook page, be sure to check it later this week!  You can schedule a session via my website:  www.michaelbrazell.com

-Starting this Friday I am gong to be starting a special series of blog posts addressing the Gay Soul.  My soul has been directing me to do specific dialog and healing work with members of the men who love men community.  During these blog posts I’ll address topics various topics that affect our community: shame, homophobia, community engagement, overculture pressure, relationships, and more.  I am also going to be creating a Facebook group that will allow us to discuss some of the topics I’ll be addressing in the blog series.  If you are interested in joining the conversation you can email me at: michael@michaelbrazell.com, or message me via my facebook page: www.facebook.com/soulintuitive

-Mercury retrograde is upon us (Oct 4th – Oct 25th)!  Stay centered and be prepared.  As the years have progressed, the intensity of astrological alignments have increased.  It is vital to have patience, to center, and to stay aligned with your soul mission.  Even if you feel that these astrological alignments do not impact you directly, they may impact those that you deal with.  Pay attention to communication, plan ahead, and be prepared.

-The ripples from the global events are impacting all of us.  Many of us may feel helpless as the world moves through its upheaval cycle.  You are much more powerful than you think.  This is a time for us to step into deeper places of service.  Shine your gifts out into the world.  Shine your soul’s light into the darkness.  Engage in prayer, meditate, activate your healing modalities, and stay informed!  Many of us turn away from the news of world events, but just because you ignore it, doe not mean that it will not impact you.  Do your research!  Do not take things at face value.  Dig deeper and ask questions.  As we move forward my intuition is directing me to share more information and solutions. Each week I’ll post an intuitive geopolitical update, but also action steps that we can take to help increase awareness, and decrease the impact of these actions on our lives.  We will also look at how we as individuals can increase the energy of light in the world.

Soul Message:

Beloved,  KNOW that you are loved.  This is a time of change and transition.  Many of you are feeling the impact that upheaval and change usually brings.  Know that these changes are bringing you an opportunity to come into greater presence.  Many of you seek to escape your situations, but this is not possible.  Coming into presence allows you to coming into alignment with the power of your soul.  Trust the deep inner knowing, the deep stillness, trust that even in the chaos the divine hand is holding you in grace.  Do not fear as movement begins, this is a time of initiation.  Trust the process that your intuition is offering you, it is able to give you solutions to the problems you are facing.   Remember how deeply you are loved, hold this at your heart, and live it.

As always—-

You are loved.  You are Beautiful.  You are Divine.

I don’t need you in my life, I want you there

relationshipsOver the years, I’ve done a LOT of relationship readings.  They are my least favorite type of reading to do.  I do feel that there is value in asking for guidance in our romantic connections, but many of the questions I am asked could be answered if couples learned to communicate more.  I’m going to share here a few insights that I have received through these sessions.  This it by no means a full list, but an invitation to take a look at your experience.  Each day, we are able to step more fully into our connections.  Not everyday is going to be wonderful, but there are things that we can to do connect, to be present and to love more deeply.

  • You should not “need” your partner in your life, you should “want” them there.  Too often we surrender out our personal power to our loved ones. We make them responsible for our happiness, our security, and sometimes a sense of self-worth.  When we need them as if they are the air we breath (which may sound romantic) we are placing a dangerous responsibility on them.  Wanting someone to be in your life with you is an invitation.  When you want to share that space of love and connection with them, you are allowing them to be who they are, and you are not making them a necessity, but a part of the tapestry.
  • Communication is vital.  To me, communication is as important as fidelity.  If you are not talking to the person you are sharing your life with, then you lose connection.  In the age of technology we often count our email, Face Book, or texts as communication, but sadly it is not.  E-communication is great for sending quick notes, reminders, etc.. but you should not have arguments, discuss big issues, or crisis using e-communication.  When you sit in the presence of your loved one, you are there with them.  When you show up to communication offer them your full attention. Life is full of distractions, don’t invite them into your relationship.  Set aside time where you talk about your dreams, your ideas, your needs, your desires, your fears, issues within the relationship, things you are grateful for, etc.  Allow communication to be something that is ALWAYS welcomed.   When there is an open invitation to talk to one another, and it is actively engaged, true growth is able to happen.
  • Love unconditionally.  Too often I see clients comparing and contrasting current relationships with old relationships.  Let the person you are with be who they are.  We all have broken pieces.  We all have baggage.  Of course we have to respect our personal boundaries in a relationship, and if communication is open and active discussion about such things becomes possible.  Love the person you are with by truly being there with them.  Don’t just put your cell phones aside, turn them off.  Keep some memories for yourself. Don’t live your relationships online, live it in the world.
  • Be spontaneous.  Life is too short to not have adventure and play.  Stagnation brings negativity.  Shake things up a bit, show the person you are with that you love them.  Leave notes for them around the house, leave a list in their pocket telling them how grateful you are for them, play board games, have great sex, don’t plan life out so much, leave room for play.
  • Relationships end.  “Till death do us part” still means that at some point it is going to end.  Too often we forget how finite time is.  We are not guaranteed any tomorrows,  or even our next breath.  I do say this so that you will live in fear, but more so that you will live in gratitude. At the end of a relationship we often regret not talking things out more clearly, we regret not being more spontaneous, we regret not showing up for fully.  The realization that death exists allows us to be more purposeful with our time.  Say I love you more.  Hold your lovers hand.  Kiss them frequently.  Look into their eyes and really see them, breathe in each moment fully.  If/when it does end, you’ll have countless beautiful memories to look back on in gratitude instead of regret.

I still do relationship readings if necessary.  I will usually only answer questions that will help my client improve themselves within the framework for the relationship.  Taking responsibility for who YOU are allows you to show up more fully, to be more present, and to love more fully.

You can also join me this Thursday on Soul Empowerment Radio (8/147/2014) as I take this conversation a bit deeper.  If you are reading this beyond the show’s air date, all the shows are archived so you can still listen in.

You are Loved.  You are Beautiful.  You are Divine.

No Holding Back

Over the past few months, I’ve been given a lot of clarity.  I feel that I’ve been holding back a lot of my life.  I feel myself opening to new energies, and new and deeper understanding of spirituality.  Each day I sit with my soul in deep conversation.  I’m learning to listen, and more importantly to trust.

My intuition and my guides have been giving me a lot of new information recently.  New downloads seem to be a daily thing.  Some of the information is going to be radical, and some of it a gentle reminder to return to ourselves.  I’ve also been given some new processes that’ll I will also be sharing over the next few months.  Lot’s of changes are ahead.  I’ve been feeling the call to simplify my life, my spirituality, and work.  Change is never easy, but as we move into greater states of trust, we know that change is also powerful.  I feel that as teaches, readers, healers, as we evolve we also help those coming to us evolve as well.  It means there is more work to do, and a new level of experience is opening up.

I’ve found myself holding back from sharing the information that’s been coming through, but we are entering a time where it is necessary for us to connect to our soul energy at the deepest levels possible.  Some of the information that will be delivered may not resonate with everyone, and that is okay.  When we come up to the edges of our reality, when we encounter challenge, we learn are then able to grow.  We also encounter deepening at those moments of challenge.  It’s time for us to take ownership of our experiences, to take claim to the power inherent in each of us.  Communities are starting to come together, soul families are being born and created, and the flow of etheric information is on the rise.  Now is the time to listen deeply, find time for stillness and silence, and open to your highest levels of intent.

When we encounter new information it can be challenging and even frightening to bring it through.  I’ve been seeing many light workers waking up to their divine purpose, and then taking the leap and putting themselves out there and into the world.  This is the time to shine our light as bright as possible, and it truly is inspiring to see so many communities and individuals taking off the reigns and transmitting new information with intent.

If you are finding yourself holding back because of fear, judgement, or otherwise… just know that it is time to step deeper into and onto your path.  There are teams of etheric beings that are there to assist you, and there are many others in this reality that are also waiting for you to step up to the podium.

One of my teachers Consuela Newton closes many of her talks with this quote from Matthew.  This has become my mantra in a way..

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify God.

Take a moment to see where you are holding back in your life.  What is calling you?  Where do you feel you need to be more present?  What can you do in this moment to move into greater connection to your journey?

You are Loved.  You are Beautiful.  You are Divine.

Spiritual Tools: The Journal

The journal.  Some people love them, others find them deeply challenging to keep.  I love keeping a journal.  The journal is sacred space.  It allows us a space to reflect, to come into communion with our intuition, and to catch snapshots of our lives.  Life happens quickly, and having a quite place that we can gather ourselves is necessary–the journal provides this.  I also tell my clients that it is important to keep a pen and paper journal.  I know we live in the age of technology, but with our fancy devices comes a lot of distractions.  From time to time I’ll keep quick notes, or reminders to myself of things that I should write about in my journal, but I love the tangibility of a paper journal.  When we write things out longhand we are also connecting to each word that kisses the pages of our journal.  When we write things out we are also inviting our bodies into this process, we are able to make mistakes, scratch things out, and we tend to not be as polished as we are on our electronic devices.  You can also keep an art journal if you are more connected to the visual realm.

journalingAnother things I tell my clients is that it is not so much about journaling everyday, but it is important to carry your journal with you daily.  Daily access to the journal is giving yourself permission to write when it feels right to do so.  Not having it with you, or leaving it at home puts distance between the intention to write and the action.  Most of us might “want” to, or might be able to remember those insights later… but we also often forget.  I keep my journal at arm distance.  I like to have access to it at the gym, in the grocery store, or when I’m waiting in the car.  I sometimes will just open it up to a blank page and sit.  The blank page is possibility.  I can rest on that page, reflect and energetically fill that page with my thoughts and intentions.  I find that the simple act of opening the journal is entering sacred space.  Things get quite, and my focus is now on the page, which also helps me enter into stillness.  Everyone will have their own ideas surround what a journal is or isn’t.  These are just my thoughts, and my personal connection to the journal.  Feel free to develop your personal connection to it.

What to write?!

The next big question is:  What do I write in my journal?!

Anything and everything you want.  For a while I would keep a separate journal for different areas of my life, and still do to a lesser extent.  I find that keeping my thoughts focused in one space helps to keep me focused in one space.  I write my thoughts, my ideas, my struggles, my intuitive insights, my paranormal experiences, what foods I’m eating, manifesting lists, yoga postures and sequences that I am working on, show topics, drams and interpretations, self readings, tarot card exercises and readings, research..etc.  The list is truly limitless.  The idea is try not to limit yourself.  You can do the “Dear Journal” and write about your day, or you can just allow consciousness to flow in whatever direction it wants to go in.

After making some big life transitions I felt that I needed to come back to center.  I pulled out all of my old journals and began to sift through my personal story, my journey into the spiritual.  I found myself again in those pages.  They gave me a chance to reflect on the reasons I started doing this work, and also allowed me to have gratitude for my evolution along the path.  Journals are our record keepers, they are our friends, and they at some point will become our legacy.

Do you journal?  What do you like journaling about?  If you are not currently keeping a journal, what is your resistance?

You are loved.  You are Beautiful. You are Divine.

Technology… The Good, The Bad, and What do we do when it Disappears

So, I’ve been combing through a bunch of my old blogs…  many are no longer active, but there are still some nuggets and gems.  One of the things I’ve found myself doing is going back and looking at my spiritual foundations.  I’ll be re-posting some of the nuggets here.  🙂

(This is a payphone, in case you’ve forgotten what they look like)

We live in a time where at the blink of an eye we can communicate with everyone we’ve ever met. With the click of one button, the world can know where I am, what I am doing, and what all of my likes and dislikes are. The big question is: how much of ourselves are we going to give away to the technological world. With every application in the world available at a tap, we get further away from connecting to one another. I can remember a time where people actually walked up to one another and said “Hi, my name is….”, now the first question is: “Do you have Facebookmyspace or twitter?”

We have become so reliant on these little gadgets and devices. I noticed a funny icon on my phone the other day. It asked me if it wasOK that Google collected information on my searches, location, etc so that it could provide better quality as far as searches. Google (and many cell phone providers) have been known to collect and build profiles on users–and more along the Big Brother lines than helping me find the best vegan pizza joint in town. We really have to be careful where we give away our information, we have to use our intuition to decide if it is necessary to venture down these techno highways. They are great for the service they provide… but, does anyone remember how to use a map or even know what an Atlas is? GPS has stolen away the necessity to learn how to read basic maps, we can even have our books read to us by our IPODsthere are programs that slow brainwaves down for meditation, there are neat applications that just suck us right into a world of dependence.

Last night it seems that TMOBILE also crashed. I can still remember how angry I was getting that I could not check my email, send a text, or make a call. I also then realized how attached I was to this phone. It was a wake call… pun intended.

What do we do if all this technology disappears tomorrow? Do you know the actual phone number of the 3 top people you call the most? With a click of a button, a call is made. If I had to walk up to a payphone, I am sure that my speed dial or top 5 will not be programmed in (pay phone? What in the world is that?).

Take time each day to put away the techno-toys. Detach completely. Go a day without using them, detach from email. Send a letter (pen and paper) to a friend. Go a day without texting. Write down all the important numbers in your phone. Ask yourself “If there were no way of using electronic means of communication, what would I do?” This is an extremely valid question, and its another insight that popped up during the TMOBILE outage. I’ve been fortunate to have been introduced to a telepathy technique which is very effective. We have to look outside of ourselves and the techno boxes we’ve put ourselves into.

Much love to you all,

Mike Brazell

Beautiful Disasters and Learning to Trust

Woke up with some thought this morning, reflections from some dreams that I’ve been having… so, this may come off a bit tangential, but that’s just me.  When I write here, I often just let my fingers walk the keyboard, take what feels good… let every thing else rest on the shelf:

Sometimes life is a series of beautiful disasters.  It changes quickly, and in the process it changes us.  We adapt, or we try to.  We get to put our spiritual tools to the test, and we question the fabric of our reality.  We often start asking the “why” questions.  Why me?  Why now?  etc..  Sometimes the answers are not as simple as we’d like them to be, and sometimes they are so simple, that we miss the subtle nudges.  Trust is not an easy thing to engage.  It requires a level of surrender that many of us fear.  A letting go, a deep release from the inside out.  God FNNGWIIGYTY1GRZ.MEDIUMsometimes has a way of stepping in and challenging our reality.  Illness, upheaval, poverty, loss, are some of what I call “the sandpaper experiences”.  I often see us as a piece of word in the hand of God, slowing being sanded and shaped into something beautiful, but often we don’t see what is coming, or perhaps we aren’t allowed to see.  I tell my clients that if I was told by my intuition that I’d be sitting here, face covered in tattoos, teaching spirituality for a living, that I’d tell it NO WAY… but, here I am.

The past few months for me have been sandpaper moments.  When I was in DC I had the deep challenge of trust.  People, places and things no longer held the stability that they once had.  The “safety” in my current reality was challenged, and I had to start letting it all go.  In the fall, we still try to cling to the old masks, the old people, and places even if they are no longer serving our highest intent and good.  We try to fit the square pegs into the triangle holes.  I am seeing a lot of us go through these moments.  The beautiful shattering of these experiences.  We get to see how much power we are holding in these moments, and how much we have given away.  We have to take responsibility for that power, and start to bring it back to us.  As time moves forward, I’ll discuss dealing with specific challenges many of us face when dealing with trust: relationships, work, family, life itself, and spirituality.

explosionWhen I was preparing to leave DC, there were moments when I felt angry.  Anger is an emotion that is like fire, it can burn through things quickly.  I was angry at everything, but did not have a place to direct my anger.  It was just an emotion that needed to be acknowledged.  We often try to suppress these emotions, but they are a natural part of the grieving process (if you are going through heavy change, I recommend looking up the stages of grief, it will help you identify and accept where you are as you go through the stages).  As the fire of anger started burning in my heart center, I felt a peace wash over me.  My intuition activated and asked,” Beloved, what are you angry at?”… I don’t know… “Beloved, there is not place to put this emotions.  The people and events that are falling away are to be held in compassion, if you must place this anger somewhere, place in on me.”  The peace that had begun to wash through me started to flood into the deepest parts of that moment.  I view intuition as the voice of God speaking through my soul.  In essence God was telling me, that if you must be angry, be angry at me… it’s okay, I can take it… but please hold compassion for those that you feel deserve your anger, because they don’t… the situation is what it is, just love it… and trust me.

In that moment peace was followed by a deep trust.  It did not mean that I was not going to feel the emotions, the pain, the tearing… but now it also made a little room for the joy, the peace, and the compassion I needed to move forward.  For an instant, I released control and let the divine drive the car, and things began to move quickly.  When the world around us shifts at a rate of speed that does not allow us to “cling”, it challenges trust on multiple levels, we have to be kind to ourselves in this process.  Journaling and yoga have been lifesavers.  They allow me the space to dialog not only what was happening in my mental space, but yoga also allowed me to move the physical energy that had stagnated i my body.  The pain is all part of the greater process of becoming who we truly are.  Sometimes these moments come in slowly, sometimes they are larger explosions, but through all of it I find there is a deep thread of connection to something beyond us.  Something that is guiding us gently through the many beautiful disasters we might face.

What is trust to you?  What do you do when you feel trust being challenged?  Do you find solace in your spirituality?   What happens when your spiritual process are also challenged?

You are Loved.  You are Beautiful.  You are Divine.

108 Day Challenge

I finally made it down to South Carolina.

New starts, new changes, and coming into new alignments can always bring struggle.  One of the things that I like to do when I get to a new area is a cleanse and detox.  Upheaval can bring a lot of stress thorough our entire system.  For me, cleansing the body, mind and spirit helps to harmonize me into my new experience.   Since this time I am also in a process of building a new life, I thought I would take this cleanse a bit deeper and also offer myself some challenges.  The challenges help to re-align my system, and well… keeps things from getting stagnant.  Getting into a new routine is always a good thing when leaving an old one.

I’ll post the details here, and will do a daily post as I move through the cleanse.   This is my personal challenge, but if you are finding yourself in a rut, why not do something to help move you deeper into your experience.  Before I start a cleanse, detox or challenge like this

My challenge:

  1. Food and nutritional detox: no sugar, gluten, processed foods
  2. Reading 1-2 books/week.
  3. Writing, writing, writing…. one blog post a day, one poem a day, and daily journaling
  4. Daily mediation and yoga practice
  5. and some other things that I am keeping personal 😉

The challenge should be something that is out of the ordinary for you, it should allow you the opportunity to step into something “new” as far as a routine, or spiritual experience.  Taking you a bit out of the norm, or bringing deeper awareness to something that is more routine.  If you meditate already, challenge yourself to shift it up a bit.  Do something a bit differently.  Breaking up stagnation helps us to keep our practice fresh, and we also get to take a deeper look at ourselves in the process.  The path is about learning to grow through engaging the process, rather than just going through the motions.

Do you have questions on setting up a cleanse, detox, or personal challenge?  Feel free to write them in the comments section below and I’ll answer them.

You are Loved.

You are Beautiful.

You are Divine.

Coming into 2014 alignment

We made it through another year.

2013 has brought a lot of opportunity, and also a lot of change.   Stepping into the new year has brought me a chance to align with deeper parts of my own journey.  This is going to be a year of exploration, growth, and movement.

One thing that I have always wanted to do, but have for one reason or another have not gone all the way is shifting to eating raw.  So, this is the year I plan on going all the way with it.  Making the shift gives me better connection to the foods that are entering my body, my health, and my spiritual practice.  I do feel that what we eat should be part of our spiritual practice.

I’m spending more time writing poetry this year.  I got away from it for a while.  Poetry brings us face to face with the raw elements of our life.  Poetry is alive, it moves, it lasts mere moments–but echos deeply.   So, my goal is going to be to write a poem a day.  I’ll post some of them here.  I am also going to work a bit harder to get some of my work published.  I’ve wanted to do a chapbook for sometime, and now is the perfect year to make that a reality.  So, stay tuned for that.  I am also going to start attending open mics/slams again.  There is something beautiful and sacred about sharing your work in the public space.

I am spending more time with sacred texts, writing my own commentaries, and will be posting some of that here as to open deeper dialogue.  Too often we trust only the templates of others.  It is important for us to explore our personal relationship with spirituality.  2013 was a year of exploration for me.  I had the opportunity to dive into the study of paganism and witchcraft.  I learned a lot about myself, got to attend and meet some wonderful teachers, and saw how the dynamics of magick play a role in the ever-changing landscape of life, but as with all things that change, those are no longer my avenues of study.  I still practice personal forms of ritual, but I am moving those to the deeply personal, and no longer engaging the public sphere in that way.  I closed up the Yogawitch.com blog site, but will leave it up as an archive of my journey into intersecting Magick and Yoga practice.

2014 is going to be my year of placing spirituality in action.  I am diving deeper into soul specific work, working with intuition, and going back to my core spiritual work.  Journaling daily helps to connect to my soul journey.  My core practice has always been rooted in Christianity and the Eastern traditions.  I have a wonderful bible journal that I use to do study, soul dialogue, and daily tune ins.  Each day I take a moment to dialogue with my soul.  Intuition always has a lot to say if we pause and listen deeply.  The next step is capturing this dialogue, referring back to it, and trusting what is coming through.

I am going to start blogging with greater frequency.  Last night at the New Years Eve Psychic Fair at Sacred Circle Books, I kept hearing that I need to finish my book (from other psychics, and a few of my clients).  I am going to bring that through this year as well.

Diving deeper into my yoga practice (both professional and personal) is also on my list. I am going to be posting flow videos, technique study, and taking yoga on the road (big project in the works, stay tuned).

Travel is also on my agenda this year.  I plan to take my life to the road a bit, to do a spiritual adventure of sorts.  I am looking for places to visit, people to engage, and communities to share space with (place your suggestions below, or send them to me via email soulinteraction@gmail.com)

So, this is going to be a very engaging year.   This is the year of action, but also closure.  My mantra is: I am READY.

What are you shifting into this year?

You are loved.   You are Beautiful.  You are Divine.

Finding the flow, when you are caught in the waves

oceanI haven’t been on the blog in a while.  Like many, I am feeling the upheaval of this time of year.  Life changes in an instant, and sometimes the entirety of our experience can shift.  When the waves are rolling in, it is important to start using all of those spiritual tools that we have been collecting over the years.  One of the questions I get asked a lot is,

“How do I stay centered in all of this upheaval?”

Now, what I am about to say is going to sound counter intuitive, but it is something that holds a lot of truth…Don’t try to stay centered in all of it.  Let yourself feel the entirety of the ocean.  Feel the waves of emotion that come through life experience, and acknowledge all of them.  Let yourself be present in your presence.  Staying in the moment is not an easy thing to do.  Holding steady, and just allowing the rain to fall on us when we have forgotten our umbrella is not easy.. but will running really get us less wet?

Many of us are taught to either push away the emotions that upheaval bring, or to pull them close to us.  The other option is to do nothing except give what arises within you your gentle observation.  In upheaval we can cling to that which is moving away from us, and this keeps us in a pity puddle.  Some of us get use to being the victims of our experience.  We get use to false refuges, and we stay in situations that feel safe.   Pushing things away can be equally harmful to our experience.  When we suppress emotions, when we do not acknowledge that grieving is a necessary part of any transition, we allow ourselves to move through anger, hurt, or heavier emotions with grace.  We allow tears to flow, because “being strong” means being vulnerable.  We we move into this type of grace with ourselves, we do not resist, but allow.

Another important part of finding our flow is allowing detox to happen.  Whenever we go through the currents of life, when we feel the loss, we have to allow a period of detoxification.  Part of suppression is moving too quickly into the next experience.  If we do not take time to process our lessons, we will have to go through them again, and they only get closer too us.

In the end, it is not about staying centered, but staying with the flow. YOU are the center, and where you are is where you are supposed to be. It might not be pretty, but it is the reality of any given moment.  This acceptance allows you to be in the flow, and in a place of balance with the forces around you.  So, don’t look for the center, be the center.  Be all that you are.

So, getting back into the blogging flow.  I’ll have more to post soon, new things are coming, new projects, a move, and new experiences.   I am not sure what comes next, but the flow is wonderful.

You are Loved.  You are Beautiful.  You are Divine.
